Gloria Copeland — Blood On The Door Posts

Gloria Copeland

God gave a foreshadowing of our
New Covenant Communion through the
Old Covenant Passover. It delivered God’s healing
power to those first Israelites who partook of it.

Exodus 12:3, 5-7
KJV—Speak ye unto all the congregation of
Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month
they shall take to them every man a lamb,
according to the house of their fathers,
a lamb for an house:

Your lamb shall be without blemish, a
male of the first year: ye shall take it out
from the sheep, or from the goats: And ye
shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of
the same month: and the whole assembly
of the congregation of Israel shall kill it
in the evening. And they shall take of the
blood, and strike it on the two side posts
and on the upper door post of the houses,
wherein they shall eat it.

Amp—Tell all the congregation of Israel, On
the tenth day of this month they shall take
every man a lamb or kid, according to [the
size of] the family of which he is the father,
a lamb or kid for a house.

Your lamb or kid shall be without blemish,
a male of the first year; you shall take it from
the sheep or the goats. And you shall keep it
until the fourteenth day of the same month;
and the whole assembly of the congregation
of Israel shall [each] kill [his] lamb in the evening.
They shall take of the blood, and put it
on the two sideposts and on the lintel [above
the door space] of the houses in which they
shall eat [the passover lamb].

Moffatt—Tell all the community of Israel
that on the tenth day of this month they
are each to take a lamb or kid, one lamb for
every household.

The Lamb must be a male yearling, unblemished;
it may be a lamb or a kid, but you
must keep it till the fourteenth day of the
month, when every member of the community
of Israel shall kill it between sunset and
dark. Then they must take some of the blood
and smear it on the two door-posts and on
the lintel of the house where it is eaten.
NEB—Speak to the whole community of
Israel and say to them: On the tenth day of
this month let each man take a lamb or a
kid for his family, one for each household.

Your lamb or kid must be without blemish,
a yearling male. You may take equally
a sheep or a goat. You must have it in safe
keeping until the fourteenth day of this
month, and then all the assembled community
of Israel shall slaughter the victim
between dusk and dark. They must take
some of the blood and smear it on the two
door-posts and on the lintel of every house
in which they eat the lamb.
